“The child's development follows a path of successive stages of independence, and our knowledge of this must guide us in our behaviour towards him. We have to help the child to act, will and think for himself. This is the art of serving the spirit, an art which can be practised to perfection only when working among children.”

Maria Montessori, The Absorbent Mind

Most teachers and guides working with the child under three find themselves working alongside at least one, and up to four assistants (depending on the age of the children and size of the class.)  We hire those adults who are excited and engaged, and willing to learn, but are often not trained specifically for the age of the children we are serving.

Through consulting or mentorship, Radicle Beginnings will provide your school/community with thorough information on basic Montessori principles, how to engage (and disengage) with the child in a respectful and purposeful way, how to observe and how to best assist the teacher/guide.
