"There should be music in the child’s environment, just as there does exist in the child’s environment spoken speech. In the social environment the child should be considered and music should be provided.”
- Maria Montessori, Lecture #13, London, 1931
Singing is another key tool in enriching language development for the young child. Plus, it is a great way to redirect or calm chaotic moments. Often times all it takes is one adult to simply sit down, begin singing and watch as the children flock to the sound of music.
Do you think you have a terrible singing voice? Don't let that stop you! Young children are very forgiving and love singing no matter how bad you might think you sound.
